Last year, I said that Barack Obama would be the Democratic Party's nominee for president. I was loudly mocked. Why? Because I said that African American voters would deliver the South for Obama, and that Hillary Clinton would be where her candidacy would die. I showed people a map of the black population, and simply stated that thee was no way Hillary could win. And I kept showing that map when people doubted Obama's chances.
What I said last year:
Blacks are more than 12% of the overall total population, but we make more than 20% of the Democratic Party base. And about 60% of those voters are concentrated in the South. African Americans enjoy a demographic advantage for this primary season.... and they should exercise it.... Tomorrow really starts today.
Fellow Kossians told me that black people wouldn't vote lockstep Obama. That they weren't organized. That they couldn't get the word out. I pointed out one simple thing: they never go to black barber shops.
We have a way of talking and complaining about things in a way that you white people will never know about. We do it when we get our hair done. And I'd like to tell you all what we have been talking about:
We all think Barack Obama is an Uncle Tom.
